How to download a video online
Three steps, six platforms, every device. This page covers the whole process — including the parts that usually go wrong.
- 1
Copy the video link
Open the post on the platform it lives on and use its Share or Copy-link option. On a computer, copy the address straight from the browser bar.
- 2
Paste the URL
Drop the link into SaveVideoss. The tool recognises the platform automatically and tells you exactly what the link points at.
- 3
Choose and download
Pick the format or quality you want from the options available for that video, and the file saves straight to your device.

Saving the file on your device
The download step is the same everywhere. What differs is where the file lands afterwards.
On iPhone & iPad
- 1Copy the link from the app's Share sheet
- 2Open SaveVideoss in Safari and paste it
- 3Tap Download and choose a quality
- 4Open Safari's Downloads list (the arrow icon)
- 5Tap the file, then Share → Save Video to add it to Photos
On Android
- 1Copy the link from the app's Share menu
- 2Open SaveVideoss in Chrome and paste it
- 3Tap Download and pick a format
- 4Pull down the notification shade to watch progress
- 5Find the MP4 in Downloads, Files or your Gallery
On Windows & Mac
- 1Copy the video URL from the browser address bar
- 2Paste it into SaveVideoss
- 3Click Download and choose a quality
- 4The file saves to your Downloads folder
- 5Open it with any player — MP4 needs no extra codec
Copying the right link
Nine failures out of ten come down to the link itself rather than the tool. These four habits fix almost all of them.
Use the Share menu, not the address bar on mobile
Mobile apps often show a shortened or app-internal address. The Share → Copy link option always produces a full, public URL that resolves correctly.
Copy the post link, not the profile link
The most common failure is pasting a profile or channel URL. A downloader needs the address of one specific video, which usually contains an ID.
Watch for truncated links
If a link was pasted through a chat app, it may have been cut short with an ellipsis. Re-copy it at the source rather than typing the missing part.
Check the post is public first
Open the URL in a private browsing window. If it asks you to log in, the post is not public and no tool should be able to reach it.
Questions about the process
Why does the tool ask what kind of post my link is?+
Different post types sit behind different URL patterns. Knowing whether a link is a Reel, a Story or a Pin lets the page tell you immediately when something will not work.
Do I have to use the platform-specific page?+
No. The universal box on the home page recognises every supported platform. The dedicated pages simply add guidance, troubleshooting and device steps for that network.
What file format will I get?+
MP4 in almost every case, because that is what the platforms themselves store. MP4 plays natively on iOS, Android, Windows and macOS with no extra software.
Where does the file actually come from?+
From the platform's own content delivery network. SaveVideoss does not host, cache or re-encode any video.
Is there a limit on how many videos I can save?+
There is no counter on the page. Please use the service reasonably — automated bulk scraping is not permitted under our terms.
